Hip Hop Flows Upstream In Toronto
• Stingray’s CFXJ (Flow 93.5FM)/Toronto, which has been proudly pumping out Hip Hop to the masses for exactly 21 years, is moving up the dial on Monday, Feb. 14 to its new location at 98.7 — the current home of CINA Radio’s community-driven Urban AC CFKG, as Flow 93.5 becomes Flow 98.7.
This newly combined entity (which will retain the CFKG calls) is the result of a unique collaboration between the two companies. In its reimagined form, the “All New” Flow 98.7 will bring together the best of both brands, providing listeners an expanded musical offering. On Monday, Stingray will debut a new format on 93.5 CFXJ.
“Flow 93.5FM has been a powerful brand in the GTA for many years,” said Gary Gunter, GM of the “All New” Flow 98.7. “Coupled with the historical legacy of G98.7FM and what it has meant to the Black community, this move demonstrates our commitment to serving Toronto with a radio station that further invests into the tastes, issues, needs and lifestyle of its loyal listeners. We are thrilled to bring together two of the most respected radio stations at 98.7FM.”
Flow 93.5 launched in 2001 after a decade-long campaign for a radio station to serve the Black community of Toronto. Similarly, the “All New” Flow 98.7FM will continue to be
“Toronto’s Hip Hop and R&B station,” playing various genres of music including but not limited to hip hop, rhythm and blues, soca and reggae.
