HITS 97.3/Miami Evolves Rhythmically
• At the stroke of high noon on Friday, Sept. 24, after stunting by playing a bunch of songs containing the key word “rhythm,” Cox Media Group Top 40 WFLC (HITS 97.3)/Miami completed its reboot as HITS 97.3, “The Rhythm Of Miami,” now playing 5,000 songs in a row, commercial-free from such big names as Dua Lipa, Maroon 5, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, etc.
“We asked Miami what they wanted, and we are delivering!” said Ralph Renzi, VP/GM of CMG Miami. “HITS 97.3 will continue to serve as the voice of South Florida by connecting to listeners and offering great music in a clutter-free environment!”
Ian Richards, Director of Branding & Programming for HITS 97.3 added, “I’m excited to lead this evolution of HITS 97.3 as a top-performing station focused on the community and its people!” CMG VP of Programming Steve Smith remarked, “We are tackling this re-launch with a talented on-air team and a unique mix of music that screams ‘Miami!'”
• The rebrand came less than 24 hours after Cox instituted some high-profile programming and on-air cuts nationally, including Jill Strada, Director of Operations for CMG Miami, along with morning duo Trick Daddyand Trina on Urban sister WEDR (99 Jamz).
