Hoover Named PD of Rock 107/Scranton
• Times-Shamrock Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA keeps it firmly in the family and promotes Marketing Director Mark Hoover to Program Director of Classic Rock WEZX (Rock 107), which is also handily simulcast on WPZX/Pocono Pines and WQFM-1240 AM. The position has been open since last September, when Rick Everett resigned to become Operations Manager of Townsquare’s Hudson Valley group and PD of Classic Rock WPDH/Poughkeepsie, NY.
The announcement of Hoover’s promotion was made in a staff memo by Terry Deitz, GM of Times Shamrock Radio Outdoor and Digital, who said, “In his new position, Mark will hold the responsibility of producing the daily music logs for the stations, managing the on-air staff, production department, the promotions department and working with the sales staff to develop new features for revenue growth. He will also continue to host his afternoon airshift.”
Deitz added, “Mark began his career in September of 1998 as a Promotions Coordinator and part-time air talent. Throughout his career, Mark has been one of the main driving forces for the stations’ success in remote promotions at customers business, charitable events, fundraisers and the stations yearly Birthday Bash held at the Woodlands, which always boasts a sell-out crowd. Mark has also been instrumental in mentoring communication students who are required to complete an intern program for graduations.”
• Concurrent with Hoover’s upgrade, Times-Shamrock Communications Scranton is now seeking an experienced Promotions Director to oversee the day-to-day promotional workings of WEZX, WFUZ (ALT 92.1), and ESPN affiliate WEJL. You will also do a daily airshift on ALT 92.1, so bring your headphones.
The Promotion Director will oversee station appearances, the websites, the databases, and on-air contests and giveaways. You must be knowledgeable in marketing and branding, to insure that all promotional efforts are focused on the station’s goals and consistent with the brand. You should also be comfortable interacting with programming, sales, air talent, listeners and clients. The position requires a high degree of organizational skills, time management and attention to detail, as well as a strong understanding of social media, remote broadcast equipment, PromoSuite, Word Press, Adobe Audition, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Word, Excel.
