Howard Stern Set To Speak, Sept. 2

• Several weeks ago, a large segment of the entertainment media — excluding RAMP — bit down hard on an anonymously sourced story from a British tabloid, claiming that SiriusXM was going to cancel the 20-year-old Howard Stern Show at the end of his current five-year deal in December. As one “insider” was quoted: “Sirius and Stern are never going to meet on the money he is going to want. It’s no longer worth the investment.”

While The Sun‘s story did mention SXM’s well documented financial belt-tightening, it also claimed, without proof, that Howard’s political leanings would factor into this alleged cancellation.

While Howard has yet to comment on this behind-the-scenes drama publicly, it appears that he soon will — According to The Hollywood Reporter, SiriusXM has chosen to embrace this manufactured drama, via a promo that started running on Wednesday — “The tabloids have spoken: Howard Stern fired, canceled… is it really ‘Bye-Bye Booey?’ Chaos is swirling at The Howard Stern Show,” said the ballsy VO talent. “Did staffers talk to the press? Are writers withholding their best jokes? Nobody knows what’s going on or who to trust.”

The best part is the promo is a perfect set up for Howard’s upcoming response. As the promo continues: “Now we can reveal all the questions will be answered, all the truths will be told by the one man truly on the inside… Howard Stern will speak Tuesday, September 2.”
