iHeart Returns Classic Rock To OKC
• iHeartMedia was a tad busy in Oklahoma City this week dismantling Sports-Talk KREF (The Ref) and in its place launching Classic Rock Q94.7, complete with new KOKQ calls. Please make a note of it.
Q94.7 will feature the best Classic Rock from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, including songs from Led Zeppelin, Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled about the incredible opportunity to reintroduce Classic Rock to Oklahoma City,” said a clearly thrilled Jay C. Lowe, Area President, iHeartMedia Oklahoma City. “We’re excited to see the impact the new Q 94.7 will have on our listeners and the community at large. Classic Rock has left an indelible mark in the hearts and minds of fans around the world, and we hope this new station will strike the same chord with our audience right here in Oklahoma City.”
Don Cristi, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Oklahoma City/Tulsa, added, “Classic Rock returns to roost at 94.7 FM as we welcome the All-new Q94.7. We’re excited to reintroduce timeless music from the Mount Rushmore of Rock — Zeppelin, Queen, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones and more. We hope the listeners of Oklahoma City enjoy our mix of the very best from the ’70s, ’80s & ’90s.”
Q94.7’s weekday on-air schedule looks like this — 6-10am: Gunner; 10am-3pm: Maria Milito; 3-7pm: Ken Dashow; 7-midnight: Big Rig.
