iHeartMedia Downsizing Continues

• More names are emerging from iHeartMedia’s current round of personnel cuts due to restructuring — Spike, a longtime member of Mojo In The Morning on WKQI (Channel 955)/Detroit has exited after nearly a quarter-century of service. As reported by the Detroit Free Press, Mojo made the decidedly non-April Fool’s announcement of Spike’s departure Monday morning.

Several hours later, Spike announced his exit via Facebook post, saying, “I am no longer on the Mojo In The Morning show. For more than 23 years, it has been a dream come true to entertain you. I never took it for granted. It’s with much love that I say THANK YOU for your support.” He added, “Radio is in my blood so to say I’m going to miss it would be a massive understatement. Although I can’t answer questions regarding this change, you can always stay in touch with me here.”

In Cincinnati, we have confirmed that Justin “Dubs” Johnson has exited as PD of Rock WEBN and Alternative WEBN-HD2 (The Project 100.7/106.3).

Johnson (left) had been with iHeart Cincy since 2012. He was named PD of The Project in 2014 and added WEBN stripes a year later. He was named iHeartMedia Rock Format Coordinator in 2020. Earlier in his career Johnson worked for iHeart’s former WKLS (Project 96-1)/Atlanta as Producer of the Kidd Chris Morning Show.

• Also out: WEBN midday personality Rachel Elliot. Johnson can be reached at 404-989-2022 or justinleejohnson@gmail.com.
