In Life, Sometimes You Take A Chance
• After more than two decades of service to iHeartMedia (and before that, Clear Channel) in his hometown of Des Moines, IA, Greg Chance announced his impending resignation as Region SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia St. Louis and Omaha and said he will be leaving radio in May for the opportunity to join his brothers Jason and Matt in the family’s Des Moines-based business, Diamond Oil Company, which their late father launched in 1978.
In a staff memo, Chance, who has also served as OM/PD of Top 40 KKDM (Kiss 107)/Des Moines since he launched it in 1999, said, “It’s with genuine excitement and a full heart that I share with you a life-changing decision to step away from my broadcasting career and join our family’s homegrown business in a senior leadership role here in Des Moines, IA.” He added, “Most of us believe family is Priority No. 1, and I’ve reached the right point in my life and career to act on that powerful feeling. My time with iHeartMedia has been a true ‘unicorn’ experience — 24 years in a job I love in a hometown I love with numerous opportunities to grow into bigger and broader roles serving the communities and brands I love. Uniquely, all of this time has been spent working for and alongside truly exceptional leadership — locally, regionally and nationally. iHeart’s faith in me is a gift that has kept on giving — I will always value and appreciate their taking a ‘Chance’ on me.”
In conclusion, Chance said, “Although I plan to leave iHeart in May, I will remain a loud and active supporter of their mission, brands and (most importantly) people with an openness to helping them grow however possible. Thanks to all for your decades of support.” Chance will remain with the company until May and can still be reached at 515-245- 8854 or gregchance@iheartmedia.com.
