Indie 102.3/Denver Welcomes Shawn Lucero

KVOQ (Indie 102.3)/Denver, the independent music station from Colorado Public Radio, announced the hire of Shawn Lucero as its new on-air host and Promotions Coordinator. Lucero starts May 1 and is inbound from Colorado Springs, where she has served as Program Director of Bahakel Alternative KRXP (X1039).

“We’re very lucky to be welcoming someone who’s such a vital part of the Colorado Springs radio landscape to Indie 102.3,” said Program Director Willobee Carlan. “Shawn is a great host, and I can’t wait for the rest of the state to get to know her.”

Lucero got her start in radio in 2002 as an intern and weekend morning host with Bahakel’s 94.3 KILO/Colorado Springs. She later worked in the promotions department at KUPD/Phoenix before joining KMKF (K-Rock 101.5)/Manhattan, KS as morning host and Promotions Director. In 2012, Rock was upped to PD of KMKF. She returned to KILO in 2015 as MD/midday talent and later added PD stripes for Alternative KRXP (X1039). Two years ago she unplugged from KILO to focus fully on RXP, doing a live midday show.

Starting in mid-May, listeners will hear Lucero on weekend afternoons. In addition to hosting, she will be responsible for coordinating Indie 102.3’s agreements with promoters, venues and artists across Colorado. [Photo credit: Roxann Rene Nocco]
