Jay Philpott On The Loose
• Well, this sucks… RAMP has confirmed that Jay Philpott has exited as PD/afternoon personality at Cumulus Media’s Twin Cities’ Love 105 AC trimulcast WGVX/Lakeville–WLUP/Cambridge–WWWM/Eden Prairie, MN as his position is eliminated. Philpott shared details of his amicable departure in a lengthy Facebook post, noting, “As far as departures go, this one was dignified. There weren’t tears or angry words, and I wasn’t escorted out of the building.” He added, “As a matter of fact, once I learned my fate, I just went back to my desk and continued do what I was doing to finish the day and to leave the station in the best shape I could. I appreciated that I was granted the level of trust, respect and again…dignity!”
Philpott joined Love 105 as APD/afternoon talent in November 2018 when the company dropped the Classic Hip-Hop format after a five-year run and relaunched Love 105. Philpott didn’t have too far to commute — he had been doing nights across the hall on Classic Rock KQRS.
Over the course of a four-decade career Philpott has held programming/on-air positions at WNNX (Rock 100.5)/Atlanta, WZBA (100.7 The Bay)/Baltimore, WARH (106.5 The Arch)/St. Louis, KZPS/Dallas, WLZR (Lazer 103)/Milwaukee, WNOR/Norfolk & KSD/St. Louis, to name a few. His other Twin Cities’ stops include WLOL, KFMX and WRQC.
Philpott is now seeking his next opportunity and can be reached at jaydio@aol.com.
