Jay Taylor: Free Agent
• RAMP has learned that veteran programmer Jay Taylor has exited his 12-year run as PD of RadiOhio Sports-Talk WBNS (97.1 The Fan)/Columbus, OH at the end of his agreement. The news of Taylor’s departure initially appeared on Barrett Sports Media’s website and was independently confirmed by RAMP. In an email exchange, Taylor said he “wished nothing but the best for the staff of 97.1 The Fan. They are a brilliant team, and I have been so proud of each and every person of this incredible sports radio franchise. I want to thank the entire team for our past victories, and wish them continued growth and success.”
Taylor was hired as PD of then Hot AC WBNS (Mix 97.1) in 2006. In October 2007 he was promoted to Director of Programming and Operations, and in January 2009 Taylor presided over the station’s transition to Sports-Talk as 97.1 The Fan.
Taylor’s previous notable programming stops include KITS (Live 105)/San Francisco, KOME/San Jose, WRBQ (Q105)/Tampa and KEDG (103.5 The Edge)/Las Vegas. He was also APD/MD at KLUC/Las Vegas and on-air at WWKX (KX104)/Nashville and KQKQ (Sweet 98)/Omaha back in the day.
