JD Garfield Retraces His Steps
• Two pieces of news from veteran programmer/air talent JD Garfield, who announced, 1) his resignation as PD of Iliad Media Group Rhythmic KWYD (Wild 101)/Boise, ID, effective Sept. 10, and 2) his intention to return to Louisville for a gig that is semi-outside of radio, so we are told.
Garfield shared his thoughts, career highlights and souvenir photos in an extensive Substack post, that reads, in part, “Monday morning I’m tendering my resignation at Wild 101. We’re moving back to Louisville. I’m taking a job that is out of radio, but not entirely. I’ll fill you in more in due time. I look forward to our return to Louisville and I’m positive Nikki does as well. I look forward to starting my new gig with a great company and a dedicated team of like-minded individuals. I start my new path on Monday September 27th. Here’s to new beginnings!”
This wraps up Garfield’s second tour of duty with Wild 101 — he originally programmed the station until June 2017, when he accepted the PD post at Alpha Media Top 40 WDJX/Louisville. Two years later he resigned from WDJX and returned to Boise, reclaiming his former Wild 101 PD post. Garfield’s previous programming stops include Mid-West Family Top 40 KOSP (92.9 The Beat) and Active Rock KQRA (Q102)/Springfield, MO and six years as PD of sister WJQM (93.1 Jamz)/Madison, WI.
