Jerry McKenna Comes Home To Cape Cod

• Nice to see New England’s own Jerry McKenna back in action… and in his old stomping grounds of Cape Cod — this time as the newly named Program Director of GCJH, Inc. Classic Hits WGTX (102.3/106.5, Cape Cod’s X)/Truro, MA.

It’s a homecoming in more ways than one for McKenna, who recently returned to the Northeast after a five and half-year run in Atlanta as PD of Audacy’s WSTR (Star 94). Prior to his 2019 move south, McKenna was Director of Programming for Cape Cod Broadcasting (CCB Media). Before that he was OM and Regional PD of the Cumulus clusters in Worcester and Springfield, MA.

“Adding Jerry McKenna to our team as Program Director is another great step towards our mission of bringing local communities together through our love of music,” said Gary Hanna, President of WGTX, adding, “WGTX looks forward to building more excitement for our Cape Cod community.”

McKenna famously launched his radio career at WXKS (Kiss 108)/Boston, serving as Research and Music Director. After six years — and a brief stop at the late rival WZOU — he transitioned to the label side, working for Columbia and RCA Records. While in New York, McKenna also served a stint as Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart Editor. His first programming position was at WWKX (Hot 106)/Providence.

“Cape Cod’s X has a unique energy and connection with the community,” McKenna said. “I’m thrilled to help shape the sound of the station and continue its tradition of entertaining, engaging, and inspiring listeners every day.”
