John Boy & Billy Leaving Longtime Flagship

• After nearly four decades in mornings on iHeartMedia Classic Rock WRFX (99.7 The Fox)/Charlotte, RAMP has confirmed that The Big Show with John Boy & Billy is indeed leaving its longtime flagship after Friday’s show. The station has been running promos to that fact, stating, “As the curtain falls, Charlotte says ‘Thank You.'”

“John Boy” Isley and Billy James first teamed up 1981 at WBCY (now WLNK)/Charlotte, transitioning over to WRFX in 1986. The show entered syndication in 1993. And speaking of which… a statement from the show’s syndicator, Premiere Networks, confirmed that The Big Show with John Boy and Billy will do its final show on 99.7 The Fox in Charlotte tomorrow, November 15. The statement notes, “Fans of the show can continue to listen on the free iHeartRadio app or iHeartRadio.com. The program recently renewed its syndication agreement with Premiere Networks and currently airs on nearly 50 stations nationwide.”

So far, management has not announced what will replace The Big Show in morning drive on The Fox.
