Kathie J Comes Home To KOSI/Denver
• Bonneville AC KOSI 101.1/Denver has acquired the talents of longtime Mile High radio & TV veteran Kathie J, who is joining the team for afternoon drive, starting Wednesday, Dec. 6 as KOSI PD Jim Lawson unplugs from the shift.
Kathie J has worked in the Denver market for nearly 25 years, most recently doing middays over on Max Media Urban AC KJHM (JAMMIN’ 101.5). She most notably spent 17 years as part of the KQKS (KS107.5) morning show with Larry Ulibarri and Kendall B. On the TV side, Kathie hosted Colorado’s Everyday Showon KDVR (Fox 31), earning an Emmy for “Best Lifestyle Show Host,” and hosted The Kathie J Show on KCDO-TV (Local 3).
“I’m very excited to be on KOSI 101.1!” Kathie J exclaimed. “KOSI has always been close to my heart, and I had always hoped that my career would one day bring me back to the station that I love so much.”
Lawson said, “I’ve been a fan of Kathie’s for over 20 years, and I’m so excited for her to bring her considerable talent and experience to KOSI 101.1. She began her career in the promotions department here at KOSI 101.1 and I’m happy to welcome her home.”
Ah yes… who could forget those crazy days in the KOSI promotions department, when Kathie, then assigned the prestigious task of donning the itchy “KOSI Bear” mascot costume, recalls her “most embarrassing moment,” when she fell off of a stage and her bear head popped off. “I can still hear the kids screaming,” Kathie recalls. “[KOSI personality] Murphy Huston was there to help me get up after my knee went out, and we still laugh about it to this day.”
• With Kathie J’s departure, Max Media Denver’s KJHM (JAMMIN’ 101.5) has an immediate opening for an experienced midday personality/Production Assistant. JAMMIN’ 101.5 PD SLiM is looking for a team member with at least three years of on-air experience to host 10am-3pm weekdays and and engage with a great community of listeners. The perfect candidate for this position will be an experienced personality with proven success in a Top 100 market during prime hours of the week. Prior production experience is also a necessity for this position.
