Kenny Jay Named PD of WUSN/Chicago
• We are pleased to report that Kenny Jay is back in the saddle as the newly named PD of Entercom Country of WUSN (US*99)! Jay most recently programmed former CBS Radio Country KMPS/Seattle, but has been a PD without a fulltime station since early December, when a post-merger Entercom flipped KMPS to Soft AC as The New 94.1 The Sound.
Jay’s arrival in the Windy City takes some of the programming load off of his new boss, Entercom Chicago VP of Programming Todd Cavanah, who annexed US*99 PD duties last April when Jeff Kapugi was named Region SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Washington and Baltimore. Cavanah will continue to program WBBM-FM (B96) and the recently launched WBMX (Jams 104.3).
“Kenny has extensive knowledge of the country music market and I’m confident that with him on board, US*99 will continue as the No. 1 choice for Chicago country music fans,” said Jimmy de Castro, SVP/Market Manager of Entercom Chicago. Jay remarked, “US*99 is legendary and I’m thrilled to be part of this team of talented individuals. I’m thankful for the opportunity and look forward to taking on this new role.”
Jay previously programmed CBS Radio Country KMNB (BUZ’N @102.9)/Minneapolis and transferred into the PD chair at KMPS/Seattle in January 2016. Jay began his serious career acceleration in December of 2012 when he was hired away from the PD post at Alpha Media’s WUBB (Bob 106.9)/Savannah, GA and landed in Minneapolis as APD of KMNB. He was upped to PD in October of 2014 after Rob Morris transferred to Miami. Earlier in his career Jay held on-air and programming positions for Mid-West Family Broadcasting in Madison and La Crosse, WI.
