Kramer On The Beach… In That Good Way
• More exciting developments are percolating out of Magic Broadcasting in Panama City Beach, FL — News-Talk WYOO (Talk Radio 101) bids farewell to seven-year morning host Derrell Day, who exits to focus on his thriving construction and real estate business. Concurrent with that event, the station rebrands as NewsTalk@101 with a spotlight on local news, sports and weather, investigative reporting and breaking news. To help usher in this programming shift, NewsTalk@101 welcomes talk radio pro Keith Kramer aboard as PD of WYOO and Tallahassee Talk sibling WVFT (Freedom 93.3). Kramer, inbound from iHeartMedia Active Rock WIOT/Toledo, OH will also assume command of morning shift on WYOO, starting October 9.
Fun Fact: Kramer and Magic Broadcasting OM Marc Summers worked together back in the day at WZYP/Huntsville, AL. Kramer has also plugged in at WFLZ/Tampa, KEGL/Dallas, KSJO/San Jose, WKRK/Detroit and KTRS/St. Louis. “I’m throwing my hat in the ring to be one of the people that brings talk radio out of the stone ages,” Kramer remarked. “Thank you to Marc Summers and GM Misty Sims for the opportunity to finally not only do mornings, but to program two radio stations. I’ll be the pale fat guy staring inappropriately at chicks in bikinis on the beach.”
Summers said of Kramer, “His social media skills and his brand of talk show will be much more aggressive, polarizing, opinionated and focus on local stories than the NewsTalk listeners were previously used to hearing. We will get more discussions, digging deep into Panama City politics and scandal, and Kramer will argue, badger callers, challenge any belief he feels needs re-evaluation, and mock relentlessly anyone making erroneous statements not based in facts. In other word: shit just got real, yo.”
