KSL Spotlights Maria In Middays
• Bonneville’s KSL NewsRadio/Salt Lake City this week launched Midday with Maria Shilaos, an expansion of KSL’s Utah’s Noon News. Hosted by respected journalist and longtime KSL news host Maria Shilaos, Midday with Maria Shilao airs weekdays from 12-3pm.
“As a respected journalist, Maria Shilaos has earned the trust of listeners across Utah,” said the show’s Executive Producer Andy Cupp. “This new show isn’t just about the news — it’s about the people behind it. We’re excited to connect with listeners and know we’ll add value to their lives as they tune in each day.” Shilaos remarked, “This new show gives us the opportunity to spend more time with thought-provoking stories and zero in how they affect you and your family. The news can often seem heavy, so this gives a chance to lighten the load a bit and bring listeners heartwarming stories.”
Midday with Maria Shilaos replaces Inside Sources, which had featured a rotating stable of hosts since Boyd Matheson left in November.
Shilaos has been honored by the Utah Broadcasters Association and the Society of Professional Journalists for her anchoring and reporting abilities. She has also received several regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, including the 2017 Murrow Award for “Best Newscast” for her role as host of Utah’s Noon News. Shilaos is also the host of The KSL Greenhouse Show, and the Let’s Get Moving with Maria podcast, and in her not-so-spare time teaches Radio Journalism and Podcasting at the University of Utah.
