Landry Puts The ‘i’ In Lansing
Big day for Midwest Communications in Lansing, MI, as the company prepares to flip Classic Hits WLMI to Top 40 as “i-92.9, Lansing’s New Hits” on Wednesday, April 26. “The opportunity to deliver an exciting current-driven CHR to the Lansing market is one we couldn’t avoid,” said Midwest VP of Programming Jeff McCarthy, who added, “i-92.9 is poised to seize that opportunity, satisfying both listeners and clients.”
The new i-92.9 will be piloted by incoming Brand Manager Nikki Landry, who most recently programmed Cumulus Top 40 KKMG (Magic 98.9)/Colorado Springs, CO. Her previous programming stops include Mighty Media Group Country duo WEBL (95.3/97.7 The Rebel) and WUMY (Big Country 105.5/100.1)/Memphis and Cumulus Top 40 WWWM (Star 105)/Toledo. She’s done afternoons at Clear Channel Hot AC KVDU (Voodoo 104)/New Orleans and CBS Radio AC WIAD (94.7 Fresh FM)/Washington, and she was MD/midday talent at Entercom Country KBWF (95.7 The Wolf)/San Francisco a few years back.
Landry, who succeeds Mike Scott, commented, “Having been born in Michigan, this place holds a special place in my heart. I have a big job to make my birthplace proud. The impact we’re about to make in Lansing will definitely get attention. I know Lansing is ready.”
• i-92.9 will launch with over 5,000 songs in a row, commercial-free. Once the launch is complete, the station will introduce the syndicated The Bert Show, The Zach Sang Show and other personalities to the Lansing market.
