Leighton Peck Resigns From KS95/Minneapolis
• Twin Cities radio fixture Leighton Peck surprised more than a few folks on Friday when he tendered his resignation from Hubbard Hot AC KSTP (KS95)/Minneapolis after an amazing three-decade run — the last 19 years as PD.
“I had the honor of working with the greatest staff in the country,” Peck tells RAMP. “I hired most of them when they were brand new broadcasters, and I’m so proud to see where they are now.” Commenting on his legacy at KS95, Peck said, “The company allowed me to create this radio station in my vision, and I think it worked out pretty well.”
Peck got his radio start in St. Cloud, MN in 1981. After several subsequent stops in Nebraska, Peck returned to Minneapolis and did overnights for Brian Philips on KDWB for three years. In 1991, then-KS95 PD Bob Davis hired Peck as a part-timer. He steadily worked his up through the ranks to nights and middays before he was named PD in 2001 — only the 4th in the station’s history, following in the hallowed footsteps of Chuck Knapp, Davis and Todd Fisher.
Looking ahead, Peck can be reached at lpeck93@frontiernet.net.
