Leslie Whittle To Annex Cumulus Atlanta

• On Monday we confirmed that Louie Diaz has exited Cumulus Media Atlanta, where he had served as Program Director of Top 40 WWWQ (Q99.7) and in the corporate role as VP of Top 40 & Rhythmic Top 40 for the past eight years.

RAMP has subsequently learned that Leslie Whittle, longtime PD of sister KRBE/Houston, will now annex oversight of Atlanta as well and take on the enhanced role of VP of Top 40, Rhythmic Top 40 and Hot AC. She will remain based in Houston. Stay tuned for further details on that front.

Diaz (left) arrived in Atlanta in Nov. 2016, when he accepted the transfer from the PD post at the late Hot AC WRQX (Mix 107.3)/Washington, to become OM of the Atlanta cluster and PD of WWWQ, basically swapping stations and markets with Rob Roberts, who also added the newly created corporate role of VP of Hot AC Programming. Diaz earlier programmed Cumulus Top 40 KLIF (Hot 93.3)/Dallas and Alpha Media Top 40 KBFF (Live 95.5)/Portland, OR.

A native of Queens, NY, Diaz started his radio career at the age of 16 as the Programming Asst. to Scott Shannon at WPLJ/New York, ultimately rising to APD. He later served as Citadel’s National Programming Coordinator until the company was acquired by Cumulus. His early programming resume includes Citadel Top 40 KWIN/Modesto, CA, AGM Rhythmic KPAT (95.7 The Beat) & Adult Hits KBOX/Santa Maria, CA and he also oversaw WMBX (X102.3) and WHFS (B106.3)/West Palm Beach during the cluster’s transition from CBS Radio to Palm Beach Broadcasting.
