Mac Exits As Cumulus Beaumont Moves
• It’s no secret that the pandemic has radically changed our lives and daily routines; in the same way, the radio industry has also made changes to adapt to a new world order — like this: after broadcasting and working remotely for the past 19 months, Cumulus Media Beaumont, TX is eliminating most of its longtime location at 755 South 11th Street — with the exception of a small office — and is merging its Beaumont broadcast operations and and staff with the Cumulus cluster in Lake Charles, LA, some 65 miles away.
Effective Monday, January 24, Beaumont-based Urban AC KTCX (Magic 102.5), Country KAYD (KD101.7) and Top 40 KQXY (Q94) will operate and broadcast from Lake Charles, LA, which will require existing Beaumont employees to relocate to Lake Charles, or commute 130 miles round-trip daily.
In the wake of this facilities merger, RAMP has confirmed that Kelly Mac has resigned as PD/midday personality at KTCX after nearly three years to pursue other opportunities. Mac remarked, “It’s been an honor to be a part of the very talented, unique, and hardworking Cumulus Beaumont team. I’m extremely proud and pleased with the work we’ve done collectively to enhance the overall branding, ratings, and revenue of KTCX online, on-air, and in the community. Serving on this team & the community has been rewarding and very fulfilling, & I’ll forever be thankful for the experience and opportunity. Special thanks to Kenny Smoov for his solid leadership, guidance & coaching.”
Mac’s career includes 20+ years of branding, on air, digital and programming experience in various markets including Charlotte, Greenville, SC, Indianapolis, Chicago, and Philadelphia, to name a few.
