Matthews Named PD, WDVD/Detroit
• Cumulus Media has appointed Michelle Matthews as the new Program Director of Hot AC 96.3 WDVD/Detroit.
In making the announcement of Matthews’ hire, Steve Finateri, RVP/Market Manager, Cumulus Detroit/Ann Arbor, said, “We are so excited to have Michelle aboard. She brings a new kind of energy to our team which I’m sure will be felt by the loyal WDVD listening audience. She has an impeccable track record for success which I know will continue for a very long time in Detroit.”
Matthews is coming off an eight-year run with Saga’s Columbus Radio Group in Columbus, OH, as OM/PD of AC WSNY (Sunny 95) and Hot AC WVMX (Mix 107.9) until late April, when her position was eliminated. Matthews previously programmed iHeartMedia Classic Hits KLOU/St. Louis and served as Digital PD of the cluster. Prior to that she spent eight years in Omaha as OM of the Clear Channel/iHeartMedia cluster and as Regional Programming Manager for Omaha, Wichita and Sioux City, IA. Matthews’ nearly three decades in the industry also include stops at KXPK & KALC/Denver and an earlier stint with Saga as OM of the company’s Capitol Radio Group in Springfield, IL.
Matthews commented, “How lucky am I??? Super excited to work with a dream team at Cumulus Media and WDVD. Fun begins now!”
Matthews succeeds David Corey, former Director of FM Programming for Cumulus Detroit, who exited in June as the company spun off Country sister WDRQ to Christian broadcaster Family Life Radio.
