Mike McCoy Headed Home To Phoenix
• After a two-year run as Operations Manager of Stephens Media Group Soft AC WRMM (WARM 101.3), Alternative WZNE (94.1 The Zone), and Adult Hits WFKL (Fickle 93.3)/Rochester, NY, Mike McCoy announced his resignation and intention to return to his hometown of Phoenix, AZ for family reasons, “especially the desire to be with my Dad during his advancing years,” McCoy said. “While Dad is still in excellent health and continues calling Phoenix Suns games as the longest-reigning radio play-by-play voice in the NBA, my desire is to spend more time with him now that he’s in his 80s.”
McCoy, who notably spent 28 years programming heritage Top 40 KJ103/Oklahoma City, continued, “My experience in Rochester overseeing multiple formats as been an incredible growth experience. I want to thank VP of Programming Bob Thornton, GM Mike Ninnie and the staffs of Warm 101.3, Fickle 93.3 and 94.1 The Zone. I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved with these stations, including driving a well-financed mega-group-owned direct competitor out of format. I’ve agreed to help with the transition over the next 30 days and to stay on in afternoons remotely from Phoenix through the end of the year.”
Looking ahead, McCoy said, “I’d love to find a programming home in Phoenix so if there’s a CHR/Hot AC/AC station tired of mediocre ratings who’d like to have a 35-year programming vet who has consistently delivered double digit numbers, let’s talk soon. I’m also open to consulting opportunities nationwide. I can be reached at radiomccoyokc@yahoo.com.”
