Mills Gets Creative In Wichita
Veteran programmer Steve Mills is putting his years of media experience to work in a new field of endeavor — he’s returned to Wichita in his home state of Kansas and hung out the shingle promoting his new advertising agency, Just Plain Steve Creative Services Agency. As Mills explained to The Wichita Eagle, “I want to provide the best possible options for clients to reach brand consumers, and I don’t believe that all of those options are currently available here in this area.” Joining Mills at his new company are Ken Houpt as COO, Jenna DeSpain as VP of Operations and Chad Steele as VP of Social and Digital.
Mills was most recently Director of Operations & Programming for Midwest Communications cluster in Kalamazoo, MI. Before that he was Manager of Streaming Operations for Cumulus Media in Atlanta. Earlier in his career Mills was VP/Corporate PD for Pembrook Pines/Titan Media in Elmira, NY, and his prior programming stops include Clear Channel’s WZZO/Allentown, PA and Cumulus Classic Hits KWIC and Rock KDVV (V100) in his hometown of Topeka, KS.
Mills told the Eagle he harbors hope for future expansion to surrounding markets, such as Oklahoma City, Topeka and Kansas City. RAMP caught up to Mills, who told us, “We are happy to bring this service to a community that I love. I will continue to consult for Lyles Media Group and will still pop up on air from time to time, but the agency will ALWAYS LIVE IN WICHITA!” Mills’ new shop agency officially opens on April 3.
