Missanelli Exits Philly’s Fanatic
• Longtime Philadelphia sports-talk personality Mike Missanelli has exited his afternoon drive spot on Beasley’s WPEN (97.5 The Fanatic) after a 15-year run.
Missanelli broke his own news on-air on Tuesday, May 31, stating that his current contract was set to expire in a few weeks, adding that he and Beasley were going “in another direction.” RAMP confirmed Missanelli’s departure with Beasley corporate, which issued a statement that reads, “Mike has exited afternoons on the Fanatic. The company has offered him the opportunity to remain in another capacity with the station.” In the interim, Missanelli’s producer/co-host Tyrone Johnson will host the show alongside Associate Producer/Update Anchor Jen Scordo.
• Missanelli got his media start as a sportswriter for the Philadelphia Inquirer. He made the transition to radio in 1993 and worked for several other Philly stations, including Audacy rival WIP-FM until his unscheduled departure in 2006. He joined The Fanatic in 2007.
