Now Entering Tallahassee: Throwback 96.5

• On 2pm on Monday, July 8, after a bit of holiday stunting (as “Beach 96.5), iHeartMedia Tallahassee, FL launched Throwback 96.5, propelled by WTLY-AM and mighty translator W243EG. As the name would suggest, Throwback 96.5 is focused on Hip Hop and R&B from the ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s.

“Throwback Hip Hop and R&B is what’s hot right now and I’m glad that we’re the ones that get to bring that to Tallahassee!” said D-Strong, PD of Throwback 96.5 and Urban clustermate 103.5 The Beat (WGMY-HD2).

To formally celebrate the launch of Throwback 96.5, the station is hosting a “Throwback Thursday” party on Thursday (naturally), July 11 at Madison Social from 5-8pm. DJ Loosekid and DJ Jam will play the best of Throwback hip hop… and hang onto something — the first 97 people to show up will receive a free drink!
