NV89 Sets New Programming Team
• Nevada Public Radio (NVPR) announces updated on-air and management roles for KVNV (NV89), the company’s Reno/Carson City, NV music discovery channel as founding programmer Willobee Carlan has formally moved to Denver in his new position as Program Director of OpenAir, Colorado Public Radio’s music discovery station.
The action starts with the elevation of morning host Malayna Joy to Operations/Program Manager. Joy (left) has been with NV89 since its launch in April 2017. Prior to that she was heard across the street on Lotus Triple A KTHX (100.1 The X). Joy was previously a TV reporter at KRNV and KTVN.
Next up, Gia DeSantis (right) is upped to Music Director. De Santis has also been with NV89 since its launch. She is the creator of Cocktails in the Kiddie Pool and she used to work at the legendary KROQ/Los Angeles. David Hadel adds middays to his on-air duties and Jake Wagner continues as evening host and producer of The Evening News fresh tracks show.
NV89 on-air talent will continue to contribute to VuHaus and NPR Music, and appear on Nevada Public Radio’s State of Nevada program. Mike Henry from Paragon Media Strategies provides consulting services.
