Oxnard-Ventura Feelin’ Groovy

• Another Cumulus station has changed course after Westwood One’s recent dissolution of seven 24/7 formats — KVYB (106.3 The Vibe)/Oxnard-Ventura, CA, which had been using Westwood’s now defunct Hits Now Top 40 format, has elected to go in a different direction, acquiring Scott Shannon’s True Oldies Channel from Local Radio Networks and changing its branding to Groovy 106.3, “Best of The ’60s & ’70s.”

The station will continue to serve as a regional affiliate for Los Angeles Dodgers broadcasts.

VP/Market Manager Sommer Frisk remarked, “Finally — a station in Oxnard-Ventura that is more ‘Toe Taps’ than ‘TikToks’ … We flipped the format to Groovy 106.3/True Oldies and are excited to fill a hole in the market and bring good times, and groovy feelings back for the Adult 45+ audience and advertisers.”

Operations Manager Dave Daniels echoed that sentiment, commenting, “We are so excited about ‘Groovy 106.3!’ The True Oldies format was missing from Ventura County, and now it’s back! Fun music that captures the essence of the California spirit! Plus, Dodgers Baseball! That’s Groovy!”
