Programming Dept: Corey & Pleshe
• We expect the official announcement at any moment, but RAMP has learned that Bell Media VP of English Radio Programming David Corey is leaving the company after 10 1/2 years of service and will be returning to the U.S. to accept a position TBA.
Corey (left) famously spent 22 years at WXKS (Kiss 108)/Boston, rising from intern to APD/MD before departing in June 2006. Later that year he arrived at CHUM FM/Toronto as Program Coordinator, and was upped to PD in August 2007. You are advised to watch this space for further details.
• We skillfully teased this story yesterday… today, it’s a done deal — Steve Pleshe is coming back home to KSKS (93.7 Kiss Country)/Fresno as its new PD, effective May 8. Born in Orange, California, Pleshe moved to Fresno in 1985 to attend Fresno State — and he never left. Pleshe actually began his radio career as a part-timer at Kiss Country in the early ’90s and worked his way up to the PD seat in the summer of 2004. Five years later, Pleshe transitioned over to the label side, working at RCA, Streamsound, and most recently, Black River Entertainment as Director of West Coast Promotion.
Patty Hixson, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Media Fresno, said, “I’m thrilled to welcome Steve back to Kiss Country! Having worked with him in the past, I consider him one of the brightest and most creative Program Directors in the business. He will elevate Kiss Country’s programming with his unique perspective and create some of America’s best Country radio!”
Pleshe remarked, “Radio never left my blood. I’ve always considered myself a programmer that was working in the record industry. I had a great time working with so many great people in the Nashville community, but it’s time to come home to the station where it all started… Kiss Country.” Pleshe succeeds Darrin Arriens, who was recently named Director of Operations for Entercom Charlotte.
