Programming Upgrades @ Yavapai Broadcasting
• Yavapai Broadcasting Corporation, which owns and operates six radio stations in Cottonwood, Flagstaff and Prescott Valley, AZ announces several key staff changes to fill the large void left last October when Rich Malone (a.k.a. Richard D. Nearing) succumbed to cancer. Malone had served in the multiple roles of Operations Manager for all of Yavapai’s stations and PD/morning personality at Triple A KVNA-FM (100.One)/Flagstaff-Prescott.
> Bryan James (left), PD of Top 40 KQST (Q102.9) now adds OM stripes for all six Yavapai Broadcasting stations. James is a 20-year company vet who started working at Yavapai when he was still in high school.
> Juli Page (center), PD of Classic Hits KKLD (95.9 The Cloud) and the widow of Rich Malone, now adds PD responsibilities for KVNA-FM. Page also does middays on KVNA as “Jules.”
> The final piece of the puzzle is the addition of Doug Brannson (right), who joins KVNA-FM as MD and morning personality. Brannson is a 25-year radio pro who most recently did mornings on Grenax Broadcasting’s ’80s-focused KFLX (Rewind 92.5/104.1)/Prescott, AZ.
Mike Puetz, GM of Yavapai Broadcasting said, “After the loss of Rich Malone, and with the guidance of our Triple A consultant Dennis Constantine, I’m very happy that Rich’s dream and direction for KVNA-FM will be in the very capable hands of new program director Juli Page and new morning announcer and music director Doug Brannson. Both Juli and Doug have a tremendous amount of experience, and I look forward to working with them and listening to them as they guide KVNA-FM into the future.”
Page said, “As the new program director of KVNA-FM, I’m pleased to be able to keep the station on course to reach the potential my husband Rich knew it had. I have been blessed with an amazing support crew — award-winning programmer Dennis Constantine and our new addition, MD and morning host Doug Brannson.”
