Pros On The Loose: Joey Brooks
• Joey Brooks just experienced what he says is the first-ever layoff of his career, as he exits as SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Connecticut station group and PD of Country duo WBWL (101.7 The Bull)/Boston & WWYZ/Hartford. Brooks also served as Director of Brand Strategy & Programming for iHeart’s Hot AC stations and hosted a national Hot AC weekend show.
Brooks had been on the job in Connecticut since Sept. 2019, when he transferred back to New England from iHeart Miami, where he had served in the dual role of PD of Hot AC WMIA (939 MIA) and APD of Top 40 WHYI (Y100).
Brooks is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and started his radio career at WXKS (Kiss 108)/Boston. From 2002-2006 he was APD/MD/on-air at Top 40 WKSS (Kiss 95.7)/Hartford. Brooks’ other programming experience includes a stint as APD of iHeartMedia Top 40 WIOQ (Q102)/Philadelphiafrom 2006-2009 and MD of CHUM/Toronto from 2009-2012.
