Remembering Alexa Smith

UPDATED: We are deeply saddened — yet again — to learn of the passing of another beloved radio veteran — Alexa Smith, who died Monday, March 17 at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento at the age of 53 after a battle with a rare lung disease called PVOD that we are told affects 1 in 10 million people.

Smith’s lengthy West Coast radio career included her most recent stop at EMF’s KLOVE & Air1 network, and on-air at KLLC (Alice 97.3)/San Francisco. Her programming resume includes her time as APD/MD at Sierra H Broadcasting Rhythmic Oldies KAJM (Mega 104.3)/Phoenix, APD of CBS Radio’s KTWV (94.7 The Wave)/Los Angeles, and PD of KSEQ (Q97)/Fresno back in the day.

Smith’s impressive on-air stops include KXJM (Jammin’ 95.5)/Portland, KMVQ (MOViN 99.7)/San Francisco, KSFM/Sacramento, and XHTZ (Jammin’ Z90)/San Diego.

Memorial services have not yet been announced. In the meantime, to see just how loved — and missed — Alexa is, look no further than her Facebook page, which is overflowing with heartfelt remembrances from her many friends and colleagues.
