Remembering Mase Brazelle
• We are awaiting further details, but RAMP is shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Mason “Mase” Brazelle, PD/afternoon talent at WWCD, Ltd. Alternative WWCD (CD102.5)/Columbus, OH. We understand that Brazelle, 53, died early Saturday morning at a local hospital from complications stemming from a bleeding ulcer that he had been battling for the past few weeks.
A tweet from the station announced this tragic news, stating, “It is with great sadness that we must share the news & mourn the passing of our friend & co-worker Mase Brazelle. Mase to all was known for his deep knowledge & passion for music, his ability to make anyone feel welcome, staff, & listeners alike. Mase will be deeply missed.”
Brazelle arrived in Columbus in July 2015 to do nights on iHeartMedia Alternative WXZX (105.7 The X). The following year he joined CD102.5 to do part-time and host the station’s heritage alternative specialty show, The Stash. He was upped to the PD chair in October 2017. Earlier in his career Brazelle spent 11 years with Digity Alternative WKZQ/Myrtle Beach, SC, rising to APD/MD/afternoon talent.
Brazelle is survived by his wife, Joy, his parents and his brother, Nate.
Brazelle’s Facebook page has become the defacto gathering place for his many friends and colleagues to pay their respects.
