Robby & Rochelle Jersey-Bound
• Now it can be told — after recently announcing their impending departure from Macdonald Garber Top 40 WKHQ/Traverse City, MI to a new flagship, Robby Bridges and his wife and co-host Rochelle Gagnon revealed that they are headed back east, to the scenic Jersey Shore to anchor mornings at Press Communications’ Classic Rock simulcast WWZY & WBHX (107-1 The Boss)/Monmouth-Ocean.
Bridges will also assume Program Director duties for The Boss, reporting to VP of Programming Jeff Rafter, who will soon be retiring. Upon Rafter’s departure, Bridges will report directly to Press CEO Bob McAllan. Rochelle will take on an active role in the social media strategy and marketing of their show, including their podcast. Prior to arriving in TVC two years ago the show was based at WSHK/Portsmouth, NH, and earlier at WDVD/Detroit.
Rafter remarked, “Morning radio in Monmouth-Ocean is highly competitive with great shows both in and outside the market. To have talent like Robby and Rochelle, along with market vet and 107.1 The Boss news anchor Dianne DeOliveira, the Boss is positioned to move ahead of the pack. WWZY is a strong station and I have every confidence that as Robby Bridges becomes the ‘Boss of the Boss,’ it will grow it even stronger. This may be one of the last things I do in radio, and it will be one of the best things I’ve done.”
Bridges commented, “We are thrilled to join a terrific media group in Press Communications and grow the unique brand of 107-1 The Boss, with its killer signal reaching from Atlantic City to the Lincoln Tunnel. It’s going to be fun entertaining Classic Rock fans in the land of Bruce, Bon Jovi and ‘Bridgegate!’ Or should I say Sinatra, Snooki and The Sopranos!? Thank you very much Bob McAllan and Jeff Rafter for this special opportunity!”
• In addition to their history hosting together, Bridges notably spent 11 years with Cumulus and Westwood One. No stranger to the Northeast, Bridges has been heard on Z100 and the late WPLJ/New York and WIOQ (Q102)/Philadelphia. He’s also worked in Providence and Boston and previously programmed WEBE 108/Bridgeport, CT and WFAS-FM/Westchester, NY. Bridges will continue to serve as the exclusive guest host for Scott Shannon on the True Oldies Channel. Rochelle previously served as an air talent and Promotions Director with Cumulus, Lakes Media and was an Associate Producer of Mojo in The Morning at WKQI/Detroit.
