Rock 107 Now Three Times Louder
• Last December Jim Loftus resigned as COO of Seven Mountains Media and returned to Times-Shamrock, this time as CEO. Loftus had previously served as COO of Times-Shamrock from 1997-2005.
That unique connection between Seven Mountains, Loftus, and Times-Shamrock continues to the present day, as it was announced that Scranton-based Times-Shamrock has filed to purchase Classic Country WLGD (currently Bigfoot Legends 107.7)/Dallas/Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA from Seven Mountains for $600,000 ($300K at closing and $300K over three years).
RAMP reached out to Loftus (left), who graciously laid out the company’s plan for its newly acquired 107.7 signal, as he revealed, “We are happy to share that the station will be a 100% simulcast of our heritage market leader, WEZX (Rock 107)/Scranton, Northeastern Pennsylvania’s Classic Rocker for over 44 years.”
Loftus continued, “Just over 20 years ago, when I was the COO here, we acquired 105.9 WPZX/Pocono Pines to provide our Rock 107 platform better signal distribution into the Pocono Mountains. Since then, our listenership has continued to grow (No. 1 12+ in Nielsen yesterday). This is our plan with 107.7 WLGD — not only is it on ‘107’ on the FM dial, but it fortifies Rock 107 in the Southern and Western part of the wide geographic swath of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, as defined by Nielsen.”
Loftus added, “If the technical Gods cooperate, this Friday at noon ET, the Rock 107 footprint will get a lot bigger — the new ‘Trimulcast’ of 107.7 WLGD/Dallas, PA will be added to 106.9 WEZX/Scranton and 105.9 WPZX/Pocono Pines.”
In closing, Loftus said, “We are blessed with a loyal audience that has been along for the ride for over 44 years.”
Note: The intellectual property of “Bigfoot Country Legends” Classic Country format will remain the property of Seven Mountains Media.
