• TEGNA Sports-Talk WBNS (97.1 The Fan)/Columbus, OH announced a multi-year extension to retain the services of Anthony Rothman, co-host of Rothman & Ice alongside Matty “Ice” Hayes weekdays from noon-3pm. Rothman will also continue to host The Fan Tailgate Show on Buckeye Saturdays with former Ohio State All-American linebacker Andy Katzenmoyer and Tim May.
While patiently waiting for the ink to fully dry, Station Manager Cody Welling said, “It’s been a privilege to work with Anthony, and I’m honored to be his teammate for the next several years. Anthony is well-respected as a broadcaster, and his dedication to philanthropy is unwavering. He has been a massive contributor to 97.1 The Fan’s success.”
2024 marks Rothman’s 13th anniversary at The Fan and his 30th in the Columbus market. He started his broadcast career as a TV anchor and reporter. In 1994 he moved to Columbus to work at ABC 6, where he was honored with eight regional Emmy awards.
Rothman commented, “I’m very grateful to The Fan for the opportunity to continue my love of sports broadcasting. I couldn’t ask to be in a better city and owe my longevity to my talented co-hosts and our passionate fans.”
In addition to his work at The Fan, Rothman is very involved in pet adoption and advocacy in the Columbus area. His “Hockey and Hounds” show segment, apparel and golf outing have raised more than $300,000 assisting local animal rescues over the last seven years.
