Ryan Returns To Oklahoma
“…Where the wind comes sweeping down the plain…” Now that we have successfully embedded that timeless classic in your head, it was just announced that JJ Ryan, who recently stepped down as PD of iHeartMedia Country KBEB (92.5 The Bull)/Sacramento for a “mystery gig TBA” is, in fact, the new PD of iHeartMedia Top 40 KJYO (KJ103) and Country KXXY (96.1 KXY).
The move marks a triumphant return to Oklahoma for Ryan, who, prior to transferring to Sacramento in January of 2014, worked for the company in Tulsa, OK, programming Rhythmic KTBT (92.1 The Beat) and Country KTGX (106.1 The Twister). Before that he was Operations Manager for Cumulus Media Fayetteville, AR.
“We’re very excited to have JJ back in Oklahoma and at the helm of KJ103 and 96.1 KXY,” said Jon Phillips, Area President for iHeartMedia Oklahoma. “His energy and passion for radio and the community will certainly benefit our staff, listeners and advertisers.” Ryan succeeds former KJ103 PD Mike McCoy, who exited last week after 28 years, while KXXY had been programmed by Tom Travis, OKC SVP of Programming, who remains acting PD of KTST (101.9 The Twister), KGHM-AM (1340 The Game) and KBRU-HD2 (98.5 El Patron).
