Shreveport Welcomes Jay Michaels
• OK, it’s official — Jay Michaels is on the job as the new PD and afternoon personality at Cumulus Hot AC KQHN (Q97.3)/Shreveport, LA. The move marks a return to the Cumulus family — and his former email address — for Michaels, who most recently spent six years in Indianapolis, where he programmed Cumulus Top 40 WYRG (Energy 93.9) and Classic Hits WJJK until last summer.
Aaron Criswell, VP/Market Manager of Cumulus Shreveport, said, “We are extremely excited to have a proven programmer join us in Shreveport, Louisiana. Jay brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our cluster along with a superabundance of ideas on how to win.”
Earlier in his career Michaels did mornings at Midwest Communications’ Top 40 WMGI (100.7 Mix FM)/Terre Haute, IN. Previous stops include KQMV (MOViN 92.5)/Seattle, WSTO (Hot 96) and WIKY/Evansville, IN and Metro Networks in Louisville.
Michaels commented, “I’m so excited to be joining the amazing team at Cumulus in Shreveport. Big thanks to Mike McVay, Grey Frey and Aaron Criswell for welcoming me back to the Cumulus family! I’ve fallen in love with this city and can’t wait to get going!” Michaels succeeds Gary Nolan, who recently relocated back to Kansas City for family reasons.
