Shula’s WHLD-AM/Niagara Falls Now WUSW

• Earlier this week Buddy Shula‘s Radio One Buffalo announced it is acquiring 5,000-watt WHLD-AM 1270/Niagara Falls, NY (currently Conservative Talk) from Cumulus Media in a deal that will give Radio One Buffalo a pair of giant AMs (along with WECK-AM) serving the Buffalo-Niagara Falls, NY market.

Late Thursday night Shula let us know that FCC has granted new call letters to the soon-to-be-former WHLD-AM — Effective June 1, the same day that the LMA between Cumulus and Radio One Buffalo begins, the call letters will become WUSW. Speculate away!

“It meant a lot to me to have US (United States) in the call letters,” Shula said. “I am a patriot, and the call letters will be representative of the new format that will be launched.”
