Spatz Wears Two Hatz At WONE/Akron

• RAMP has confirmed that longtime Ohio radio pro Matt Spatz has been elevated to PD at Rubber City Radio Classic Rock 97.5 WONE/Akron, OH, succeeding Craig Michaels, who exited last month. The promotion makes sense — Spatz is more than familiar with the place — he previously worked on-air at WONE from 1994-1997, and rejoined the station early this year as co-host of Spatz & Amanda In The Morning.

Spatz previously programmed WROV/Roanoke, VA and spent some quality years in Youngstown, OH as PD of WNCD (93.3 The Wolf), WWIZ (Rock 104) and two stints with Cumulus Classic Rock WYFM/Youngstown. He was also on-air at WLVQ/Columbus.

“I can’t thank [Owner] Thom Mandel and [VP of Programming & Ops] Nick Anthony enough; it was an unbelievable opportunity to come back home to WONE earlier this year, and to now have the chance to program the station that taught me what rock and roll was when I was 16 is a dream come true.”

• Spatz’s promotion marks the latest programming move inside the Rubber City compound — Jeff Lynn recently exited as Director Of Operations for the group and PD of Country WQMX. Shortly thereafter, WQMX APD/morning co-host Sarah Kay was upped to the PD chair. Kay can be congratulated at sarah@wqmx.com, and Jeff Lynn can now be reached at Jeff.Lynn@gmail.com.
