Steve McKay Joins DBC Savannah
• Dick Broadcasting (DBC) Savannah welcomes programming pro Steve McKay as the new PD of Top 40 WGCO (Hot 98.3) and Classic Hits WRWN (Rewind 107.9).
McKay (left) brings a wealth of experience to his new dual role, most recently as Brand Manager of Townsquare AC duo 92.7 WOBM/Monmouth-Ocean and WFPG (Lite 96.9)/Atlantic City, until he was downsized during a February round of corporate budget cuts.
The new gig also marks a return to the South for McKay, who earlier spent four years as PD of Cumulus AC WTCB and Classic Hits WOMG/Columbia, SC, preceded by a year as PD of Cumulus AC/Classic Rock combo WGNI & WKXS (94.5 The Hawk)/Wilmington, NC. McKay’s extensive programming resume also includes WPTE/Norfolk, WBHT/Wilkes Barre-Scranton, PA, and the former WEJM (Jammin’ Gold)/Philadelphia.
DBC VP of Programming Jason Goodman commented, “I had the pleasure of working with Steve over 20 years ago, and he remains one of the most strategic and passionate programmers in the industry. Steve’s dedication will drive programming to super-serve the local community with engaging content, promotions, and branding.” Market Manager Aaron Wilborn stated, “After a long interview process, it was clear that Steve was the best for the position. I couldn’t be more excited about adding Steve to our talented and local programming team. His knowledge, creativity, and passion made him the perfect choice.”
“I’m delighted to join the team at DBC in Savannah,” said McKay. “I want to thank Aaron Wilborn, Jason Goodman, and Nathan James for affording me this outstanding opportunity. We’ve got some great heritage brands in place, and it’s going to be exciting to elevate them further in the minds of our listeners and clients by being fun, exciting, and local. I can’t wait.”
