• iHeartMedia News/Talk WSPD (News Radio 1370/92.9)/Toledo promotes longtime APD Matt “Shaggy” Culbreath to PD of the station, effective immediately. The upgrade takes some of the load off of Scott Sands, SVP of Programming Toledo, who commented, “Matt has been a valuable part of the WSPD and iHeartMedia Toledo team for more than 15 years and has dedicated a lot of hard work and long hours towards this opportunity. I’m very confident he will excel in this new role.” Along with his fancy new PD stripes, Culbreath will retain his other responsibilities as APD of WCWA-AM (Fox Sports 1230), overnight talent on WIOT (Rock 104.7) and afternoon co-host with Sands on WSPD.
• Ashley Wilson has been named as the new APD/MD for Renda Broadcasting Country WGNE (99.9 Gator Country)/Jacksonville, FL, starting Nov. 16. Ms. Wilson segues from the MD/morning co-host spot at Beasley Media Country WKML/Fayetteville, NC. She previously spent nine years with Curtis Media Group Country WMMY/Jefferson, NC.
Renda OM Chuck Beck said, “After speaking with so many qualified radio professionals we decide Ashley was a perfect fit. She brings incredible enthusiasm, energy and knowledge to our stations, which is exactly what we wanted.” He added, “Thanks to Dan Vallie for the great work he is doing with young talent.” Wilson previously worked with Vallie when she was Station Manager of Appalachian State University’s WASU-FM in 2007-08. Wilson succeeds Abby Zellmer, who was recently named PD of iHeartMedia Country WDRM and Top 40 106.5 Kiss FM (W293AH)/Huntsville, AL.
