• Woodward Community Media (WCM), serving the Green Bay and Appleton-Oshkosh, WI region strengthens its talk radio leadership with a key promotion and new hire — Alex Thomas has been promoted to Brand Manager for News-Talk WHBY and Sports-Talk WSCO (1570 The Score), and market veteran Paul Johnson joins the company as Asst. Brand Manager for both stations.

Thomas (left), most recently Assistant Brand Manager for WHBY and WSCO, succeeds BJ DeGroot, was recently promoted to Market Manager for Woodward’s six-station Northeast Wisconsin group.

“I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to be Brand Manager of such prestigious stations of WHBY and The Score,” Thomas said. “With WHBY celebrating its 100th Anniversary and WSCO’s local sports presence, it’s an honor to represent Woodward Community Media as the talk station Brand Manager. I look forward to continuing our community impact and highlighting the Fox Valley with great local radio programming.”

Johnson (right) has been with Midwest Communications since 2013, most recently doing nights across the street on Country WNCY (Y100). Previous stops include WDEZ/Wausau, KTWB/Sioux Falls, SD, and KVOX/Fargo, ND. He’s also been a guest host on News-Talk WTAQ/Green Bay.

“I’m excited to be part of the team at Woodward Community Media!” said Johnson, whose first day will be Sept. 15. “So many talented individuals on staff, and I feel very fortunate to join the team at WHBY and WSCO with the goal of providing great local radio to the listeners of the Fox Valley.”
