This Is The End For Fletcher

• iHeartMedia keeps it in the family and names Dustin “Fletcher” Matthews as the new Program Director of Alternative WEND (106.5 The End)/Charlotte, effective June 10. He will succeed Chuck “DZL” Thompson, who, as we just reported, is crossing the hall to take the reins of Country sibling WKKT (96.9 The Kat).

Fletcher earns the transfer from his current position as Director of Alternative Rock Programming for iHeartMedia’s St. Louis Region and PD of KLLT (ALT 104.9)/St. Louis and KDXA (ALT 106.3)/Des Moines, IA. Upon his arrival in Charlotte he will report to Chadwick “A.J.” Hausknecht, Region SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia’s Virginia-Carolina Region, who commented, “Dustin is one of the best Alternative format programmers in the country. His immeasurable creativity and distinctive out-of-the-box thinking will be a great addition to our super passionate and strategic programming family here at iHeartMedia Charlotte.”

Prior to moving to St. Louis in late 2016, Fletcher programmed iHeartMedia sisters WRXL (XL102) and 96.1 The Planet (WRVQ HD2)/Richmond. Earlier stops include the late, great WFNX/Boston, WFXH/Savannah, GA, WDYL/Richmond and WFNZ and WIMZ/Knoxville, TN.

“It’s truly an honor to join the iHeartMedia Charlotte team and I’m beyond thrilled to work with the esteemed The Woody & Wilcox Show, and popular on-air personalities like Tamo and Palmer to lead the legendary 106.5 The End into its 25th year,” said Fletcher. “Thanks to the entire iHeartMedia senior leadership team for their support and this incredible opportunity. I’m excited for what we have in store.”
