Torres Joins Pandora As Dir./Pop Programming
• Nice to see Melony Torres back in action, as RAMP has confirmed that she has joined SiriusXM+Pandora as Director of Pop Programming for Pandora, reporting to SVP Digital Content Alex Luke.
Torres was most recently MD/middays at WPLJ/New York until last May, when the station was sold to EMF.
She started her radio career in WOCL/Orlando in 2006 and later did nights across the hall on Hot AC sister WOMX (Mix 105.1). In 2009 she migrated to Tampa as MD/night jock at the former WSJT (Play 98.7) before returning to Orlando as APD/MD/middays on CBS Radio’s WJHM. In January 2014 Torres transitioned to the label side, moving to Los Angeles as National Director of Rhythm Promotion for Epic Records, but was enticed back to radio — and the east coast — six months later when she was named APD/MD/middays on the late WRQX/Washington. In Jan. 2016 she transferred to WPLJ as MD/late nights, later moving to middays, where she remained until that fateful day — May 31, 2019 — when the sale to EMF became final and the station flipped to Contemporary Christian.
RAMP spoke with Torres, who said, “I’m beyond grateful to be joining the team at SiriusXM+Pandora as Director of Pop Programming! I really couldn’t have asked for a more perfect role. This position allows me to dive into the world of streaming while still holding onto my radio roots. Big thank you to Scott Greenstein, Alex Luke and Alex White for giving me this incredible opportunity! Torres can be congratulated at MelonyTorres1@gmail.com.
