Vermont Embraces Mullett

UPDATED: Vox AM/FM Burlington, VT-Plattsburgh, NY Market Manager JoAnn Cyr has secured the services of Vermont native John Mullett as the new Operations Manager for the company’s seven-station cluster and PD of heritage Top 40 WXXX (95 Triple X). He succeeds longtime OM/PD Ben Hamilton, who left the company in early May. “We’re excited to have John join our Vox family,” said Cyr. “He’s a native Vermonter and has energy and enthusiasm that’s contagious!”

Mullett joins Vox AM/FM after 15 months as Director of Programming for Northwest Digital and Wireless Triple A WNCS (The Point)/Burlington, VT and the nine-signal Point Radio Network (WNCS, WIFY, WDOT, WRJT and translators) that covers Northern Vermont.

Mullett previously spent two years as MD/Marketing Director for former Beasley Alternative WBOS (ALT 92.9). Before joining WBOS in 2013, Mullett was the Marketing Director of Northeast Broadcasting Triple A WXRV (92.5 The River)/Boston. “I couldn’t be more excited to join this stand-out group of radio stations with such a strong mix of formats,” Mullett said. “Vox AM/FM’s dedication to live and local radio is something that I have been a fan of for years and I’m humbled to be a part of this team.”

Vox AM/FM includes Hot AC WEZF (Star 92.9), Top 40 WXXX (95 Triple X), Sports-Talk WCPV (101.3 The Game), Oldies/Variety WXZO (96.7 MeTVfm), News-Talk 96.3/620 WVMT, Classic Hits WVTK and Sports-Talk WEAV (960 The Zone).

• In a related story, Zeb Norris used Facebook to announce he was leaving WNCS (The Point) after 13 years. You may recall that Norris had stepped down as The Point’s PD to focus on mornings in March 2018 when Mullett was hired as his successor. “My reasons for leaving are personal and not related to anybody at the company,” Norris said. “If you are a listener or advertiser I actively encourage you to stay with The Point. Local leadership has over 40 years experience. The team is awesome, and radio is always a team effort. I am sure they’ll find somebody really good to replace me.”
