Walker Flying South For Hall
• We are sending our best wishes to Bob Walker, longtime VP of Programming for Hall Communications Providence/New Bedford and PD of WCTK (Cat Country 98.1)/Providence, who announced he will be relocating to the company’s cluster in comparatively sunny Lakeland/Winter Haven, FL in 2020 as the new OM/PD of Country WPCV, and OM of Adult Hits WWRZ, Talk WLKF and Adult Standards WONN.
Walker (left) will retain his corporate VP of Programming stripes and succeed current Lakeland OM Mike James, who in September announced his retirement from radio, effective Dec. 31, wrapping up a successful 40-year broadcasting career.
“This is a fantastic operation with some very talented people,” said Walker, who has been with Hall for a decade. “Our Central Florida group is the epitome of live and local radio and I look forward to working closely with our strong Florida brands in 2020 and beyond.” Nancy Cattarius, VP/GM of Hall Communications Lakeland, commented, “Bob has been working with our stations since he became group programmer. We’re delighted Bob will be running the operation in 2020 and look forward to even more growth here in Florida.”
Walker’s previous programming stints include WKTI/Milwaukee, KQMB/Salt Lake City and KLCA/Reno, along with earlier stops in Tallahassee, Ft. Myers and his hometown market of Augusta, ME.
Walker added, “I want to thank Nancy, Hall Executive Vice President Dan Dubonnet and Hall President Art Rowbotham for their confidence and for this opportunity. The Hall Communications’ mission statement of local service is alive and well in Florida.” Plans for replacing Walker as permanent PD of WCTK/Providence will be determined in 2020 — until then, Walker will continue to program WCTK along with WPCV.
