iHeartMedia Urban WWPR (Power 105.1)/New York City has a rare and lucrative career opportunity available for a new APD/MD, as Geespin (pictured) announced he’s leaving the radio industry at the end of Q1 to move into a new career at a talent agency. Thea Mitchem, iHeartMedia EVP of Programming, Northeast Division broke the news to the Power 105.1 staff in a memo that read, “After over 16 years with iHeartMedia our own Geespin will be moving on at the end of March to join a major talent agency based in NYC as a Senior Agent in their music division. Geespin’s contributions to Power 105.1 and iHeartMedia over the years have been tremendous and he is a big part of the success we’ve had at Power. Join me in thanking Gee for his years of service and wishing him the best as he starts the next chapter of his career.” Geespin will also wrap up a 17-year run at his hometown radio station, WJMN (Jam’n 94.5)/Boston.
That being said, Ms. Mitchem is now seeking a killer successor. This is a great opportunity for current PDs, APDs and/or Music Directors who are looking to elevate their game all the way up into Market No. 1. Power 105.1 is looking for someone who has with natural leadership abilities and is a student of Hip Hop and urban culture. The ideal candidate would have extensive experience in programming, on-air, digital/social media, production and producing. The person must be equally knowledgeable of the science behind programming as they are with the art of programming.
