Watkins Returns To The Eagle
• Jon Watkins has made his triumphant return to the PD chair at his former longtime radio home — Broadway Media Country KEGA (101.5 The Eagle)/Salt Lake City. Watkins notably spent eight years with the Eagle, rising to PD/morning co-host and he stayed there until November of 2016, when he and his morning team unplugged from The Eagle and crossed the hall to host The Mix Morning Fixon Top 40 sister KUDD (Mix 105.1). Since then, the care and feeding of The Eagle has been handled by Justin Taylor, Watkins’ Morning Fix co-host and PD of Adult Hits KYMV (Rewind 100.7).
Last August Watkins began his virtual return to The Eagle when he started tracking afternoon drive there. We are told that he will retain both airshifts along with his new/old Eagle PD stripes. “Jon’s passion for The Eagle and Country music never died, even when we moved him over to Top 40,” said GM Kayvon Motiee, adding, “When we saw an opening, we knew that he had to bring him back.”
