We’re Looking At You, Chilliwack
• Our friends at Stingray, conveniently located just slightly north of our mutual borders, will proudly pay homage to some amazing homegrown talent this Thursday, July 1 when the company’s Classic Hits and Classic Rock stations across the great nation of Canada proudly break format to count down … wait for it … the Top 100 Canadian Songs of All-Time! Yes, it’s true.
This year’s all-day event, which just happens to coincide with Canada Day, will be hosted by Stingray’s own Stu Jeffries, along with special guests Mike Reno and Paul Dean of Loverboy. The action gets underway at 10am local time on Thursday, July 1, and runs for over eight straight hours! Over the course of the day, Stu, Mike and Paul will not only count down the biggest songs in Canadian music history, but Mike and Paul also share some great stories about life on the road, the fans, and the artists they toured with in their 40 years of being one of the most successful rock bands in Canada.
It was back in the summer of 1981 when then fledgling act Loverboy played a cross-Canada tour before embarking on their first U.S. tour. Their debut album had produced the hits “Turn Me Loose” and “The Kid is Hot Tonight,” and their popularity would explode that fall with the release of Get Lucky and the massive hit “Working For The Weekend.” Come celebrate the 40th Anniversary of “The Summer of Loverboy” and commemorate Canada’s 154th birthday in the most Canadian way possible, with Stu Jeffries and Loverboy’s Mike Reno and Paul Dean.
